Well we have one week, gettin down to the wire and I can barely sit still I am so excited. So I just wanted to give you a quick run down on how the next few weeks of our lives are gonna look. Some of the finer details I will let you know when you arrive but I just wanted to give you an overview of how things are gonna go down.
Ok so...
June 17 You all arrive!!! We will drop you off at your home where you will be staying the evening, let you drop off your stuff, get settled and then we will just hang out for the evening and get to know each other.
June 18 We will meet up at 8:30 in the am and start our briefing. We will be going over some cultural things, learning our Hello's in Afrikaans, spend some time in prayer and worship for the trip as well as getting to know one another.
June 19 We head out to Africa!!! We will fly from Orlando to New York, and New York to Cape town, with a possible stop in Dakar Senegal to refuel. (sometimes they do this, on bigger planes we make the whole trek)
We will arrive in Cape Town South Africa at 4 in the afternoon, where we will be picked up by Fola from Ywam South Africa.
We will then travel by kombi (kinda like a van) up to Worcester South Africa, which is an hour from the Cape Town airport. We will get settled in and do some orientation and rest up for the big days ahead.
June 20 (God willing) if jet lag isn't to bad we will start right away with our ministry. We will be doing a number of different things throughout our time there. Working in what they call "Townships" or "Squatter Camps". These are the Ghetto's set up during Apartheid. We will be working with a number of different Ywam Ministries including building a playground and soccer field for the children, working with some basic medical needs, playing with LOTS of kids, doing some prayer ministry with the people in the community, and doing some different practical work through out the community.
We will have a couple days off to try to enjoy South Africa a bit as well and then on July 4th we will head down to Cape Town, to fly out and head home.
July 5th we will be arriving in Orlando at 4 in the afternoon, try to get rested after an AWESOME trip, do some debriefing of the things God did in and through us, and then head home to tell everyone the amazing things we experienced God do in South Africa.
I am so excited guys, this should be a really good trip! Ps Check out this video of the first time I was in South Africa, hopefully it inspires you a bit!
